Seabury girls team advances to state cross country

? The Bishop Seabury Academy girls cross country team earned a trip to the Class 2A state meet with a runner-up finish Saturday at the Burlington regional.

Junior Kate Albrecht led the Seahawks with a second-place finish of her own, running the 4K in 15:33. Maddie McCaffrey (10th place, 16:25) and Heidi Dumesich (12th, 16:55) set personal bests, and Phoebe Grabill (20th, 17:51) and Addie Graham (26th, 18:29) rounded out Seabury’s top five. The Seahawks were 14 points back from Maranatha, which won the regional with 32 points.

Senior Brandon McCaffrey was the lone state qualifier for the Seabury boys. McCaffrey ran a personal-best and school-record 17:34 in the 5K for a second-place finish. The Seahawks took fifth place as a team, just two points behind fourth-place Lyndon and 14 points shy of third-place Arma-Northeast.
