Raven to host trio of award-winning writers

The Raven Book Store’s next Big Tent Event: Stories and Poems in Three Acts is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the bookstore, 6 E. Seventh St. This month’s event will feature Hadara Bar-Nadav, Kij Johnson and Richard Robbins.

Bar-Nadav is the prize-winning author of “A Glass of Milk to Kiss Goodnight,” “The Frame Called Ruin” and “Lullaby (with Exit Sign).” She is an associate professor of English at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Johnson has won awards for her fantasy and science-fiction writing, which includes numerous short stories, “Ponies,” “The Man Who Bridged The Mist” and her new short-story collection, “At the Mouth of the River of Bees.” She teaches in the English department at Kansas University and is associate director at the Center for the Study of Science Fiction.

Robbins has published five books of poems, most recently “Radioactive City” and “Other Americas.” He directs the creative writing program and Good Thunder Reading Series at Minnesota State University.
