KU Symphony to perform Halloween concert

It’s a costume party and symphony in one — the Kansas University Symphony Orchestra will perform Friday at the Lied Center, and even the musicians will be in costume.

A communitywide costume contest is set for 6:30 p.m. in the Seymour Gallery, with prizes (announced during the concert) going to winners in three categories: Youth, collegiate and adult. The “Tricks and Treats” concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature works by Strauss, Dvorák, Chadwick, Saint-Saëns and John Williams, and KU professor Vince Gnojek will perform on saxophone.

Tickets are $7, or $5 for students and seniors, and can be purchased through the Lied Center box office, 864-2787.
