KU Alumni Band to celebrate homecoming

The Kansas University Alumni Band is gearing up to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of homecoming at KU.

KU Alumni Band Weekend is Friday and Saturday, and the band will begin with an appearance in the Homecoming Parade, which starts at 6 p.m. at the Chi Omega Fountain, proceeds down Jayhawk Boulevard and concludes with a pep rally at Adams Alumni Center, 1266 Oread Ave.

On Saturday, the band will perform at halftime of the KU-Texas football game, which kicks off at 11 a.m.

The band was named the winner of this year’s Rich and Judy Billings Spirit of 1912 Award, bestowed by the KU Alumni Association and student-led Homecoming Steering Committee. The award, which commemorates the first year of KU Homecoming, recognizes special contributions to the annual celebration.
