Women Build, a Lawrence Habitat for Humanity organization, is hosting a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Maceli’s, 1031 N.H.

The Women Build Luncheon is a chance for community members to support Women Build’s effort to build a house for family partner Kamari Logan and her daughters. The event will feature a live auction where guests can bid on materials needed to build the house, as well as a silent auction of pink hard hats filled with wares from local businesses.

Marilyn Dobski, a co-owner of area McDonald’s restaurants, will be presented with a new award that honors a woman who has served as a role model and mentor to women in Lawrence.

The luncheon is $40 and open to the public, but guests must pre-register for the event by calling 832-0777.

On Thursday night, community members can support Women Build during Downtown Lawrence Inc.’s annual Girls’ Night Downtown. Participants will receive a 20 percent discount at more than 20 stores and restaurants from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
