LHS soccer falls to O-South, 2-1

? Justin Riley scored to give Lawrence High’s soccer team the lead, but the Lions were unable to hang on in a 2-1 loss to Olathe South on Thursday night.

The Lions yielded a pair of goals in quick succession in the second half.

“We had a lull in the second half, which gave them a couple opportunities,” LHS coach Mike Murphy said. “Then we started playing well, playing aggressive again. There wasn’t enough gas in the tank. We ran out of time. For 70 minutes, I thought we played real well. We had a good team effort for about 70 minutes. But 70 minutes isn’t enough. You’ve got to play for 80 minutes.”

The Lions (7-4-1) will host Shawnee Mission North on Tuesday.
