Letter to the editor: Out of hand

To the editor:

I just saw that Kansas University basketball coach Bill Self is getting a raise of $480,000. This is absolutely totally ridiculous and a huge embarrassment on our country’s values. The man was already making $3 million per year. This is getting totally out of hand; he is just a basketball coach. Yes, he is good at what he does, but there are many other people who are equally good, yet their compensation pales by comparison.

On top of that, it is my understanding that he is considered a part of the faculty and due to that his daughter gets a free ride at KU. How do you think that makes a Kansas wheat farmer who has gone through one of the worst droughts ever and made about 25 percent of his normal earnings and then has to pay a huge amount of that for his kids’ education? Also how do you think the professors at KU feel about this?

With all your new found money I am seriously asking you for $200,000, a fraction of your salary. A breakdown of where the money will go: I owe my ex $25,000 to finalize our divorce, I owe $67,000 to pay off the mortgage on my house and I am requesting the remaining $108,000 to be donated to KC REGAP (REtired Greyhounds As Pets) as these incredibly wonderful animals deserve a forever home after enduring the evil of man: dog racing.
