Mary Kay Foundation gives $100,000 to KU Med Center for ovarian cancer research
A $100,000 grant from the Mary Kay Foundation will help Kansas University Medical Center researchers work to improve early detection of ovarian cancer.
The foundation announced the grant earlier this month. It is one of 13 grants totaling $1.3 million to be awarded to doctors and scientists around the country this year for research related to cancers affecting women.
The KUMC grant will go to Andrew Godwin, director of molecular oncology at KUMC and associate director of translational research for the KU Cancer Center, and other colleagues.
In a release, Godwin said they will use the funds for the development of technologies that could potentially improve testing and treatment of early-stage ovarian cancer.
