25 years ago: Volunteers expect 200 guests at LINK dinner

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 26, 1987:

As Thanksgiving Day dawned in Lawrence, volunteers were hard at work on the LINK Thanksgiving dinner to be served at 1:00 p.m. About 200 guests were expected at the annual meal, which was to be served at the First Christian Church, 10th and Kentucky. The dinner represented the efforts of a large number of volunteers, members of the 29 churches that contributed to LINK, and a number of area businesses and grocers who had donated and helped prepare food. A follow-up article the next day revealed that the volunteers had served up 11 turkeys, 18 pans of dressing, several gallons of gravy, 30 pies, and 20 gallons of milk.
