KU women’s basketball returns to AP poll at No. 22

Kansas University returned to the Associated Press women’s basketball poll Monday after an absence of almost three years.

The No. 22 Jayhawks (3-0) are ranked for the first time since Jan. 4, 2010.

Stanford is the new No. 1 team in the nation, barely edging Connecticut for the poll’s top spot.

The Cardinal jumps from fourth after beating former No. 1 Baylor 71-69 on Friday night, ending the Lady Bears’ 42-game winning streak. Baylor, which was first in the previous 21 polls, falls to third. Duke is fourth and Notre Dame fifth.

UCLA, Dayton and North Carolina also move into the Top 25, while Delaware, Texas A&M, Miami and Georgetown fall out.
