The Lawrence Humane Society is offering its own version of Black Friday by waiving adoption fees on all cats and kittens from Friday through Sunday.

“Our shelter is full of adorable, friendly felines hoping to spend the holidays with a new family,” said Dori Villalon, executive director of the nonprofit organization. “We hope that waiving the adoption fees this weekend will encourage holiday shoppers to become holiday adopters.”

This weekend also kicks off the Pet Photos with Santa events. The first session will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at The Granada Theater, 1020 Massachusetts St. Photos are $15, and proceeds benefit the Lawrence Humane Society.

Photo sessions will also be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at Briggs Subaru, 2300 W. 29th Terrace, and a session for cats only from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at The Cat Clinic of Lawrence, 1701 Massachusetts St.
