Baker football wins regular-season finale, 40-7

? Baker University’s football team ended the regular season with a 40-7, Senior Day victory over Graceland University on Saturday at Liston Stadium.

The Wildcats (8-2 overall, 7-2 HAAC) hope to earn one of the 16 spots in the NAIA FCS Playoffs, which will be announced at 3 p.m. today. Baker has not qualified for the postseason since 2008.

Baker dominated on offense and defense against Graceland, piling up 525 total yards while giving up just 119.

Junior Dillon Baxter led the way for the Wildcats and rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns on 24 attempts. Sophomore Alex Troyer added 64 yards and a score of his own as Baker totaled 358 yards on the ground.

Senior quarterback Sam Vossen threw Baker’s other two offensive touchdowns, one each to fellow seniors Jake Green and Reggie Harris, and sophomore Mike Stevenson returned an interception 42 yards for another score.

Andre Jolly led the Wildcats defense with five tackles, including 3.5 for loss, a forced fumble and two sacks. Jolly, a sophomore, had 15 sacks for the season, breaking a Baker school record.
