A 25-year-old Lawrence woman was sentenced Friday in Douglas County District Court to two year’s probation for her involvement in a New Year’s Day assault at Burrito King, 900 Illinois St.

April Jones, one of two defendants in the case, pleaded guilty in September to one charge of aggravated battery as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. Jones was accused of assaulting a woman in the drive-through lane.

The co-defendant in the case, Kristin E. Silva, 29, pleaded guilty in October to a similar charge. Silva will be sentenced Dec. 14 and faces a sentence of probation or up to three years in prison, depending on her criminal history.
