Kansas volleyball players lauded

Fourth-year junior middle blocker Caroline Jarmoc became the second Kansas University volleyball player in program history named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 First Team, and KU junior setter Erin McNorton was named to the second team announced by CoSIDA on Thursday.

KU’s most recent first-team honoree since Paula Caten was named in 2005, Jarmoc is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

Jarmoc and McNorton are two of six volleyball players from the Big 12 to make the list. Iowa State led with three, while Texas had one. Academic All-Big 12 awards will be announced later this month.

Jarmoc, a chemical engineering major with a 3.37 GPA, leads the Big 12 Conference in attack percentage and ranks in the league’s top-five in kills, blocks and points per set.

McNorton, a business major with a 3.55 GPA, has led the conference all season long with her 11.92 assists per set, which ranks sixth in the nation.

KU will host No. 3 Texas at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
