Eudora rips Tongie in football playoffs

? Eudora scored 28 second-half points to erase a seven-point halftime deficit and defeat Tonganoxie, 31-10, on Saturday in the Class 4A football playoffs.

Tonganoxie had taken a 10-3 lead into intermission on a 46-yard pass from Tyler Ford to Shane Levy and a 23-yard field goal by Eric Tate.

The Cardinals scored 14 points in the third quarter on a 13-yard Andrew Ballock run and a 23-yard pass play from Ballock to Markis Hill. The Cardinals also scored 14 in the fourth quarter on a two-yard Gabe Cleveland run and Mason Tomlinson’s 15-yard return after a fumble recovery.

Grant Elston provided Eudora with it first points on a 26-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Cleveland led the Cardinals with 100 yards rushing on 18 carries.

Eudora (10-1) will play Friday in the quarterfinals. Tonganoxie finished at 5-6.

Baldwin City — Turnovers and injuries derailed Baldwin.

The Wildcats’ chances were hurt when junior quarterback Cornell Brown left the game because of an ankle injury with 6:31 to play in the first quarter.
