From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 4, 1987

  • A county-wide sales tax had again met with defeat at the hands of local voters this week. The proposed 1-cent tax had been voted down, 5,676 to 3,798, according to the unofficial tally.

The report, prepared by the Lawrence Municipal Golf Course Committee, had included a market study from the National Golf Foundation supporting the proposal.
