Three KU professors awarded Fulbright grants

Three Kansas University professors have earned Fulbright grants to study and teach in foreign countries.

Debra Hedden, associate professor of music education and music therapy, will be going to Vilnius, Lithuania, in fall 2012 to act as a consultant for a new music education curriculum at the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences.

John Janzen, professor of anthropology, received a Fulbright Senior Research grant to study in the Democratic Republic of Congo from January to April 2013. He will be associated with the Free University of Luozi and will give lectures on social production and reproduction of health while studying formal and informal contributions to health and health care.

Burdett Loomis, professor of political science, will be traveling to Adelaide, Australia, where he was named the Fulbright Chair in American Politics at Flinders University. He will research Australian interest groups and lobbying while exploring the evolution of social conservative politics in Australia.
