Police are investigating an incident from early Saturday morning in which a woman was found injured in the hallway of an apartment in the 1700 block of West 24th Street.

Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence police spokesman, said the call at 5:35 a.m. Saturday was initially reported as a rape. The woman was very intoxicated and not cooperative with officers or hospital staff, which made it difficult to ascertain what had happened, he said.

The woman’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, McKinley said.
