One person was transported by air ambulance to KU Medical Center with serious injuries after a one-vehicle accident on a Douglas County Lake access road Thursday night.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Lyle Hagenbuch said the injured person, a Baldwin City resident, was driving a mo-ped-like scooter parallel to 400 E. 1814 Road. No one else was involved in the accident, which took place at about 7:40 p.m.

Hagenbuch said the victim’s family had not yet been notified of the accident and so did not give details of the person’s identity. He did say the victim’s age was likely to be early 30s.
