Free State golf sixth, LHS 12th

? Free State High’s boys golf team placed sixth as three city golfers finished in the top 20 on Monday at the Leavenworth Invitational.

FSHS golfers Wilson Hack and Lee York both scored 76 and tied for 14th place as the Firebirds accumulated a team score of 313. Lawrence High golfer Brett Van Blaricum led the Lions with a score of 78, good for 19th place.

LHS, with 341 points, finished in 12th place in the 20 team tournament.

Shawnee Mission East won the invitational with a score of 295. Blue Valley West golfer Robey Hughey took first place among individuals with a score of 70.

The Lions will host the Firebirds on Wednesday at the Lawrence High Invitational at Alvamar Golf Course.
