Topeka Free State teammates Kain Anderson and Khadijah Lane set school records and the Firebirds’ girls team placed first on Monday at the Topeka Seaman Relays.
Anderson set his record when he won the meet’s 1600 meter race in 4:16.70 — the fastest time in the state of Kansas this season. He also topped the 800 meter run. Lane’s record came in the 400 meter dash, which she won in a minute flat.
The Free State boys team placed fifth.
Lawrence High’s boys team tied for sixth place as a team. The Lions girls squad took 10th place at the meet, which was rescheduled from Friday.
Other Free State first-place finishers included Scout Weibe (javelin) and Bailey Sullivan (1600 and 800).
The Firebirds will compete next on Friday at the Shawnee Mission North Relays.
