Austin, Texas ? Kansas University triple-jumper Andrea Geubelle placed second on the third day of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday.

Geubelle, who was the NCAA indoor national champion in the event, ended her day early and did not jump in the finals after coming up less than an inch short of her outdoor personal best on her third jump.

The KU men’s 4×400 relay team of Kyle Clemons, Mike Hester, Kenneth McCuin and Michael Stigler finished the day with the second-faster qualifying time.

Kansas pole vaulter Demi Payne tied for sixth place. High-jumper Nick Giancana hit a career-best mark for fifth place. Women’s high-jumpers Colleen O’Brien and Allison Mayfield finished in ties for fifth and seventh place, respectively.

KU athletes also competed in the sprint medley relays.

The women’s team of Paris Daniels, Denesha Morris, Taylor Washington and Cori Christensen finished in fifth place.

The men’s team of Austin Bussing, Brendan Soucie, Josh Munsch and Donny Wasinger finished 10th.

The Jayhawks will finish the final day of the four-day meet today, starting shortly after noon in Austin.

Kansas track and field athletes will also compete at 9 a.m. at the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
