A man received lacerations to his arm early Thursday after he was stabbed during an altercation with another man, but police determined the stabbing was possibly an act of self-defense.

Kim Murphree, a Lawrence police spokeswoman, said police did locate the man with the knife after officers were called about 3:20 a.m. to the 1700 block of West 24th Street. No one was arrested, Murphree said.
