Woman, 18, injured in accident near 21st and Iowa

An 18-year-old woman was injured in an accident about 2:30 a.m. Monday near 21st and Iowa streets, said Kim Murphree, a police spokeswoman.

Murphree said the accident occurred when Kayla Crow, 18, was westbound at 21st Street and pulled out in front of a northbound vehicle on Iowa Street, driven by 49-year-old Brian Bastarache, of Paola, causing a collision. Crow was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where she was later treated and released, said Belinda Rehmer, an LMH spokeswoman. Police are investigating whether Crow was impaired, Murphree said.
