The Lawrence Journal-World news and advertising divisions Thursday won 26 Kansas Press Association Awards of Excellence.

First-place awards include:

Best Ad Series: Dignified Doggies by Janella Williams.

Best Automotive Ad: Laird Noller Automotive by Cheryl Batrez.

Best House Ad: Lawrence Give Back by Randy Erickson.

Best Online Ad: River City Heating & Cooling by John Van Sickel.

Best Specialty Ad: Jewelry by Julie by Williams.

Most Adaptable Promotion: KUsports.com Holiday Wrapping Paper by Scott Oswalt.

Best Online Video (Feature): Exonerated, But Still Not Free by Shaun Hittle, Kevin Anderson and Alex Parker.

Best Special Section: KUsports.com Men’s 2011-12 Basketball Preseason Magazine by the News, Creative Imaging and Advertising Sales departments.

The Journal-World competed in a four-newspaper category that included the Wichita Eagle, the Kansas City Star and the Topeka Capital-Journal. The awards will be presented during KPA’s annual meeting April 20 and 21 at the Doubletree Hotel in Overland Park.
