Omaha, Neb. ? Former Kansas University swimmer Danielle Herrmann finished third in her heat in the 100 breaststroke Tuesday at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Herrmann, a four-year KU standout from 2005-09, was leading her heat heading into the final lap and finished with a time of 1:12.87. She was not one of the 16 swimmers to advance to the semifinal round.

Herrmann, who also is a volunteer assistant for KU during the regular season, will compete today in the qualifying heats of the 200 individual medley, along with KU junior Brooke Brull and incoming freshman Chelsie Miller.

Lawrence High graduate Emma Reaney, now a rising sophomore at Notre Dame, also swam Tuesday at the trials. She finished 24th overall in the 100 breast prelims with a time of 1:09.9 — just 0.51 seconds away from the final qualifying spot (16th) to advance to the semifinals.

On Monday at the prelims, Reaney finished 41st in the 400 IM (4:52.77). She will compete in two more events this week at the trials: the 200 IM and 200 breast.

Katie Price, of Lawrence’s Ad Astra Area Aquatics swim club, finished 119th in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:13.28. Price is scheduled to compete again Friday in the 200 breast.
