Local artist wins museum’s Best 2-Dimensional award

A Lawrence artist was among top award-winners at the Mulvane Art Museum’s Mountain/Plains Art Fair.

Angie Pickman received the Best 2-Dimensional award at the 20th annual juried fine arts event, which took place June 2 and 3 at Washburn University in Topeka. Pickman, who specializes in cut paper art, displays her work online at ruralpearl.com.

This year’s art fair drew more than 10,000 people and raised more than $35,000 to support exhibit and educational programs at the Mulvane Art Museum, according to event organizers. Other winners were Stephanie Muñoz-O’Neil, of Topeka, Best of Show award; and William McReynolds, Udall, Best 3-Dimensional award. Amanda Martin Hamon and Thomas Feulmer were this year’s jurors.
