A house southwest of Ottawa in rural Franklin County was destroyed in a fire Wednesday morning.

The fire caused a total loss of the house in the 1800 block of old Highway 50 within about 15 minutes, said Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Master Deputy Jerrod Fredricks. Three people lived in the house, but there were no injuries. It was still under investigation Wednesday night, but Fredricks said the department believed the fire was caused by some kind of cooking accident on the kitchen stove. He didn’t know the value of the home.
