Series shows prisoners’ interactions with animals

Capt. Watson and the Sea Shepherd return to Japanese waters as “Whale Wars” (8 p.m., Animal Planet) enters a new season.

Animal Planet also launches the new series “Louisiana Lockdown” (9 p.m.). Louisiana’s Angola prison, one of the nation’s largest maximum-security facilities, is home to more than 5,000 inmates. Most are serving life sentences and will never leave its walls.

”Lockdown” focuses on prison programs that allow prisoners to interact with animals — from herding cattle and raising bloodhounds to breaking and training wild horses. Some prisoners also participate in Angola’s legendary annual rodeo that allows the incarcerated the “freedom” to ride a bucking bronco, if only for fleeting seconds a year.

• “That ’70s Show” (8 p.m.) joins the TV Land lineup. Are we ready to get nostalgic for a show based on nostalgia? TV Land will run three-hour marathons of the sitcom from 9 to midnight tonight, Saturday and Sunday.

The cast of “That ’70s Show” has continued to find interesting work. Of course, Ashton Kutcher recently replaced Charlie Sheen on “Two and a Half Men.” Danny Masterson’s new sitcom, “Men at Work,” just debuted on TBS. Laura Prepon starred on the recent (and since canceled) NBC comedy “Are You There, Chelsea?” Mila Kunis has done a remarkable job of navigating the worlds of A-list movies and television, starring in the Oscar-winning “Black Swan” and doing voice work on “Family Guy” and “Robot Chicken.” Wilmer Valderrama had a major role in the NBC drama “Awake,” also recently canceled. Topher Grace recently appeared in the HBO movie “Too Big To Fail.”
