To the editor:
We just discovered an interesting fact about our fair city. The City of Lawrence does not exist between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. Monday through Friday and on weekends. Only Rueschhoff Communications exists to answer city calls during these hours. They did not answer our call Thursday morning about 7:20 a.m., and their services sent the call back to city recorded messages announcing that it was outside normal business hours.
Our water had stopped flowing about 7:15 a.m., and we had called the emergency after-hours number.
We hope you find this result of outsourcing to be amusing.
