Summer replacement series could allow viewers to watch something they’ve never seen. But just as often they recycle the familiar — make that very familiar. Last night, NBC exhumed “Fear Factor,” a show kicking around since 2001. ABC’s new series “Trust Us With Your Life” (8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) combines elements of a traditional talk show with improvisational comedy.

Celebrity guests arrive to discuss their childhood and career milestones and then have those just-described scenes acted out by a comedy ensemble troupe that includes Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie and Jonathan Mangum. Brady and Mochrie were the core of “Whose Line Is it Anyway?” This Americanized version of the British comedy hit ran on ABC from 1998 to 2004.

• Also “new” tonight is “NY Med” (9 p.m., ABC), an eight-part series offering a documentary-style look at doctors, nurses and patients in busy New York City hospitals. The action ranges from life-and-death cases to scenes of mere social mortification, as in the case of a man who was admitted after taking a pill for erectile dysfunction. The pill worked a tad too well and its lingering effects long outlived its welcome.

”NY Med” is similar to ABC series from previous summers, including “Hopkins 24/7” (2000), “Hopkins” (2008) and “Boston Med” (2010). All four shows were produced by Terence Wrong.

• “Frontline” (8 p.m., PBS, check local listings) presents “Endgame: AIDS in Black America.”

”Endgame” explores how prevailing attitudes in the black community, particularly in the African-American church, have prevented early detection and treatment of the disease, resulting in a grim public health disaster for a community already beset by social and economic crises.

• The best from the American League and National League tangle in the 2012 MLB All-Star Game (6:30 p.m., Fox), broadcast this year from Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

• Peter tries to beat a bounty hunter to Neal and Mozzie in the season premiere of “White Collar” (8 p.m., USA).

• Leadership in action on “Deadliest Catch” (8 p.m., Discovery).

• Annie and the staff find themselves in unchartered waters on the season opener of “Covert Affairs” (9 p.m., USA).
