KU women ranked 25th in latest coaches poll

Kansas forward Carolyn Davis (21) turns to shoot during Kansas’ game against Texas Tech on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Kansas women’s basketball team is ranked No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll released Tuesday morning.

The Jayhawks had received votes in the poll for the last 10 weeks.

KU is nationally ranked for the first time since the 2009-10 season when it was No. 24 in the Associated Press poll on Jan. 4, 2010.

The Jayhawks are 16-4 overall (5-3 Big 12) and have defeated two top 25 teams this season, including a 62-43 victory over No. 21 Texas Tech last week.

KU plays host to Oklahoma at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Fieldhouse. The game will be televised on Metro Sports.
