Public invited to event on Medicaid reform

The Kaw Valley Older Women’s League invites the public to a meeting about Kansas Medicaid reform.

It will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the Robert Doud room in the United Way Building, 2518 Ridge Court.

Gov. Sam Brownback’s administration is seeking a waiver from the federal government for more flexibility in administering the state Medicaid program. The new program called KanCare will include all major populations and services with three companies from the private sector assuming responsibility for managing the system.

Mitzi McFatrich, director of Kansas Advocates for Better Care, will provide the latest developments on the state’s plans to overhaul the Kansas Medicaid system.
