Small World is in need of a volunteer to act as its hospitality chair. This volunteer will greet new students, conduct building tours, prepare the coffee and tea cart each morning, assist with setting up food during assemblies and potlucks, etc. Volunteers must be able to commit to Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. To find out more about being a part of this group that helps international women and their children adjust to the Lawrence community, contact Kathy Mulinazzi at 785-841-3645 or kathymulinazzi@aol.com.

Immediate needs

• The Lawrence Humane Society is looking for junior volunteers to help out at the shelter. Junior volunteers must be ages 11-15 and must be accompanied by an adult volunteer, such as a parent, at all times while volunteering with the Lawrence Humane Society. Volunteer needs include walking dogs, socializing cats, helping with off-site pet adoption events, bathing dogs and much more. • RSVP of Shawnee and Douglas Counties is in need of volunteers, ages 55 and older, to help drive DCAP (Douglas County AIDS Project) clients to and from appointments. RSVP’s mission is to engage persons 55 years and better in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a quality experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers through significant community service work and personal development. All volunteers who sign up with RSVP of Shawnee and Douglas Counties for this particular volunteer need will be screened through DCAP’s guidelines. • Van Go Inc. is seeking volunteers for the Spring JAMS Session, which runs from Feb. 13 to April 12. The sessions are from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. JAMS is a job-training program where teens, ages 14-18, learn essential job and life skills while producing works of art. Volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of one day per week to work directly with teens on-site. Two volunteers are also needed to provide transportation from Lawrence and Free State high schools.
