Overland Park ? The Lawrence High wrestling team finished the first day of the Blue Valley Northwest Invite in third place in the team standings with 90 points, behind second-place Newton with 96 points and first-place Manhattan with 110.

Lions wrestlers Tristan Star, Garrett Girard, Hunter Haralson, Andrew Denning, Macon Ezell, Nick Pursel, Reece Wright-Conklin, and Brad Wilson advanced to today’s semifinal round, beginning at 10 a.m.

Ryan Walter, Caden Lynch, Ryan Bellinger, Ryan Schulteis, and Alex Jones will compete today in the consolation bracket.

Lawrence has one head-to-head semifinal match with each of the two teams ahead of it in the team standings — Newton and Manhattan.
