An 18-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Tuesday morning at his west Lawrence apartment and later charged with aggravated battery after an incident with a woman.

Prosecutors have filed charges of aggravated battery and criminal restraint against Brandon M. Marcure, according to court records. Prosecutors accuse him of battering the woman in a “rude, angry or insulting manner.”

Kim Murphree, a Lawrence police spokesman, said officers were called about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday to the apartment in the 4500 block of Wimbledon Drive. The alleged incident occurred after Marcure and a woman he once had a relationship with had a verbal argument. The alleged victim in the case was not taken to the hospital.
