Newton ? Lawrence High senior Nick Pursel won his weight class, and the Lions took third place as a team at the prestigious Newton Tournament of Champions on Saturday.

LHS was the top finisher from Class 6A, according to coach Pat Naughton.

“It was a good showing, especially with eight out of the top 10 6A teams there,” Naughton said. “Now we know a little bit of what to expect in Wichita at State.”

The Lions will compete Friday and Saturday at the Blue Valley Northwest Invitational.
