In addition to an ongoing household goods drive, a bank account is set up to benefit a Douglas County family of 11 who lost their home in a Dec. 30 fire.

Paula Commons, a human resources representative at ICL Performance Products, said Friday donations are being accepted at any KU Credit Union branch in Lawrence in an account for the family of Roger and Camay Guillory. Roger Guillory works for ICL, which is also assisting the family.

The KU Credit Union branches are at 3400 W. Sixth St., 1300 W. 23rd St., and 2221 W. 31st St.

As the family is seeking a new permanent home, United Way of Douglas County AmeriCorps members are seeking to collect items such as furniture, bedding, appliances and toys such as puzzles and games for children ages 2 to 13.

Drop-off bins Monday to Friday will be at Douglas County Community Health Building’s first floor lobby, 200 Maine; Penn House, 1035 Pa.; United Way Center for Humane Services, 2518 Ridge Court; and Van Go Inc., 715 N.J., where apprentice artists will collect nonperishable food items.

AmeriCorps members will also be outside both Lawrence Walmart stores from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Martin Luther King Day, to accept donations, and they will pick up larger items, such as furniture, Monday afternoon.
