2 bald eagles shot and killed in Kansas

? The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is investigating after two bald eagles were found shot to death in Kansas.

The first eagle was found Monday in a ditch near the Ness County-Trego County line. The second eagle was found Tuesday near the Montgomery County-Wilson County line.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism said in a news release Thursday that X-rays found metal in both eagles.

Bald eagles are protected by federal law.
