Fifth and sixth graders at Woodlawn School recently observed Epiphany during a special assembly. Students had read various selections explaining worldwide customs related to the close of the Christmas season. A Christmas tree was burned following the assembly. Students then returned to the gym to enjoy the “bolo rei,” or cake of the kings. According to an old European tradition, the person choosing the piece with the almond inside was to prepare the next year’s party. The almond, and the honor, went to fifth grader Mike Hart.

A summer school session scheduled by Haskell Indian Junior College was in danger of possible cancellation after a tentative budget was cut more than nine per cent.

Kansas University recently had proposed to exchange its existing computer, a Honeywell 635, with a Honeywell 6050. The proposal was expected to be accepted after contract revisions were completed, according to Chancellor Laurence Chalmers.
