Veritas girls fall behind early, lose to Topeka Heritage, 46-30

? The Veritas girls led by six after the first quarter but ended up bowing out to Topeka Heritage Christian, 46-30.

Heritage’s Amara Griffith made 6 of 9 three-pointers, including five in the second quarter, after which Heritage had opened a 22-14 halftime lead.

“That just got us in a hole that we had a difficult time getting out of,” said Veritas coach Kevin Shelton of Griffith’s second-quarter barrage.

Veritas could not establish itself in the post. The Eagles were 4 of 24 from the field in the paint. Meanwhile, Heritage’s guards, including Griffith, scored 33 of their 46 points. Brittany Rask led Veritas in scoring with 13 points.

Veritas (2-7) travels to Topeka to play Cair Paravel on Monday.
