Kansas Highway Patrol to conduct a saturation patrol Saturday night in Lawrence, Douglas County

Kansas Highway Patrol plans to conduct a saturation patrol tonight in Lawrence and Douglas County.

Lt. Keith Hudson said troopers will be in the area on the lookout for aggressive and impaired drivers.

A grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation is helping fund overtime for extra troopers in the area, he said.

Hudson said the highway patrol was attempting to perform saturation patrols once a month in the area based on the number of arrests they made in similar operations in late December and late January.

Extra traffic is expected in the area today because Kansas University plays the University of Missouri at 3 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse in the final regular-season meeting between Border War rivals before Missouri leaves for the Southeastern Conference next season.
