Calhoun to undergo back surgery

February 23, 2012

— UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun will undergo surgery next week to address a lower-back condition, and he will miss the Huskies’ next two games.

The university said Wednesday the status of the Hall of Fame coach, who has been on a medical leave of absence since Feb. 3, will then be evaluated on “a day-to-day basis.”

Calhoun is expected to be hospitalized for one or two nights and then continue his recovery at home following Monday’s procedure.
