A 23-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man pleaded guilty Friday to robbery and aggravated assault for his role in a 2008 west Lawrence robbery.

Christopher J. Jackson admitted he stole a safe in the robbery and also used a gun to scare or intimidate a woman in the house the morning of Dec. 3, 2008.

He was accused of taking part with others in the robbery of an alleged drug dealer who lived at a home in the 3400 block of August Drive.

Prosecutors dismissed an aggravated burglary and misdemeanor theft charge he faced.

Defense attorney John Kerns said Jackson would not request probation in the case and that he was expected to be ordered to register as a violent offender because a firearm was used in the robbery.

He is the second Kansas City, Kan., man to enter a plea in the case after John T. Words, 21, pleaded no contest to robbery and aggravated assault. Prosecutors said there is a third suspect in the case, and Kerns said Jackson had agreed to give a statement to police that would include the name of the third suspect.

District Judge Kay Huff told Jackson that at his April sentencing he will face anywhere from 31 months to 136 months in prison on the robbery conviction, depending on his criminal history. Attorneys will recommend another 11- to 13-month sentence for aggravated assault to run concurrent to the robbery sentence.
