KC Chamber announces plans to pursue ‘Big 5’ ideas

? A series of meetings is under way in Missouri and Kansas on how to make Kansas City the nation’s most entrepreneurial city.

The focus on entrepreneurship was selected last fall as one of the top five regional ideas for the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

Other ideas include organizing a global symposium on animal health and moving the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City to a new downtown location. The ideas were picked from more than 180 suggestions.

UMB Bank chairman and CEO Peter deSilva was picked to champion the entrepreneurship initiative.

The meetings began Monday and continue through next week at sites including the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City and the Sprint Campus in Overland Park, Kan. There is no cost to attend.
