How to help: Lawrence Meals on Wheels seeks drivers to make food deliveries

Lawrence Meals on Wheels is in desperate need of volunteer drivers to deliver meals to homebound community members. Regular volunteers are sought to commit to at least one route per week, and substitute volunteers are also needed to be on call for uncovered routes on any given day. Volunteers pick up meals for their route at 11:15 a.m. on their assigned day and should count on delivering meals for around one hour. To get signed up as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, call 830-8844.

Immediate needs

• The Plymouth Language Program is still in need of volunteers for this semester’s classes that began Feb. 7 at Plymouth Congregational Church. Volunteers are needed to provide outreach support, child care and teacher assistance. Classes are from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday through early May. • The Lawrence Humane Society is always in need of more volunteers to come help socialize the cats, walk the dogs, monitor dog play groups and more. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of volunteering two hours each week for at least six months. • Lawrence Memorial Hospital needs volunteers for regular shifts at its West Information Desk, Endoscopy Center Reception, LMH Gift Shop, and to act as Food and Nutrition Service Ambassadors.
