Netflix says video streaming out of service Monday night

Families across the United States may have to find sources of entertainment elsewhere after Netflix’s video streaming service was put out of service by a Christmas Eve outage.

The company, based in Los Gatos, Calif., apologized for the outage in a company tweet Monday night.

The company’s Twitter page says the outage was caused by “some of Amazon’s cloud infrastructure.” Netflix says it was working with Amazon engineers to restore the outage, which a company spokesman told the Wall Street Journal reached “across the Americas.”
