Veritas girls basketball loses at Topeka Cair Paravel, 47-34

? Veritas Christian School nearly erased an 11-point halftime deficit but fell to Topeka Cair Paravel, 47-34, on Tuesday night in high school girls basketball.

“We got down at half, but it was a one-possession game with one minute to go in the third quarter,” said Veritas coach Kevin Shelton, whose team came within three points of Cair Paravel. “We really fought hard, and I’m really encouraged by that. We came out at halftime and really started playing well. We made some mistakes we’re not happy with, but we’re just going to work in the gym and get better.”

Madi Bennett led Veritas with 10 points, followed by Tori Huslig with eight and Kristen Finger with seven.

Veritas (4-1) will play host to Manhattan CHIEF on Saturday in Eudora.
