A 66-year-old Nortonville man pleaded guilty Thursday in Jefferson County District Court to a charge of child pornography.

Burton K. Tribble entered the plea as part of a plea deal with prosecutors, who dropped an additional charge of child exploitation, according to court documents.

Jefferson County Attorney Jason Belveal said another Kansas law enforcement agency identified Tribble as a potential possessor of child pornography earlier this year, and his office began investigating.

Tribble is scheduled for sentencing Jan. 24. Possession of child pornography is a level-5 offense, punishable by up to 136 months in prison, depending on someone’s criminal history.
