Former president of First National Bank of Lawrence Lynn Anderson helped community flourish

A longtime supporter of the Lawrence community and former president of First National Bank of Lawrence lost a battle with cancer Sunday in Bellevue, Wash.

Lynn Anderson was 72 years old.

“When he lived in Lawrence, he felt strongly about the community to help it grow,” said daughter Heather Anderson.

Anderson served as president of First National Bank of Lawrence, now U.S. Bank, from 1980 to 1987. Anderson also served as president of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, the Lawrence United Way and the Kansas Business Association.

Heather Anderson described her father as a humble and sincere man, who was happiest when he was working.

“He liked to help people,” she said. “He would give me advice and mentor me. He championed a lot of people out there.”

Anderson was born in 1940 on a farm near Atwood and graduated from the Kansas University schools of business and law.

Anderson lived in Lawrence until 1987, when he became CEO of Frank Russell Investment Management Co. in Tacoma, Wash.

The family will have a private service in Bellevue, and asks that any memorials to be sent in Lynn Anderson’s name to Evergreen Health Foundation, 12040 NE 128th St., Kirkland, WA 98034.
